Ponggal Tamil is an annual event by Astro to celebrate the Ponggal harvest festival of the Tamils. 2015 is the second year that Astro has organized this event, where a full day of traditional games and performances will gather in five locations including Singapore.
Here, Tamils are preparing Pongal, a popular Tamil dish where rice is boiled with milk and jaggery in special earthenware pots with wood fire.
Then audience participated in a competition called "Beating the Pot Hook" where they had to blindly hit a pot with a stick. The audience screamed, trying to guide them into the right direction. It's not as easy as it looks!
Near the stage were several men tied coconut leaves into knots, and then used them for display and decoration.
At 5:30, the performances began with Astro artistes!
And finally, we've all been waiting for the wonderful performances of the night!
