MOVE FOR WORLD AIDS DAY (WAD) - 2015

In support of World AIDS Day 2015, Celebrity Fitness Malaysia gathered 200 Malaysians to raise awareness for AIDS through a three hour workout party titled Move for WAD.

Participants and celebrities such as Yasmin Hani, Azura, Sha’rin Mohd Razali, Anthena Tan and Angeline Ooi danced and kicked to a combination of the ever popular Zumba and two Les Mills programmes, SH’BAM and BODYCOMBAT at Nu Sentral Sky Park. SH'BAM is an aerobic dance based workout that takes participants through dance moves set to older and new hit songs. Meanwhile, BODYCOMBAT draws inspiration from a mixture of high intensity martial arts such as Taekwondo, Karate, boxing and Muay Thai to develop an energetic non-contact workout. 

At the opening ceremony, Ryan Cheal, Vice President of Celebrity Fitness Malaysia presented a cheque of RM15,000 from the proceeds of the workout party to Fahrin Ahmad, Red Ribbon and Celebrity Supporter of Malaysian AIDS Foundation. The funds will be channelled towards the Malaysian AIDS Foundation’s efforts in HIV prevention, treatment and support programmes for Malaysia’s underprivileged communities.

“There are more than 6,200 new infections of HIV a year, adding to the total number of 100,000 Malaysians living with HIV. Despite this, HIV and AIDs remain a sensitive issue in Malaysia, and the social stigma surrounding the disease makes it difficult for patients to reach for the help they need,” said Ryan Cheal, Vice President of Celebrity Fitness Malaysia.

“By working with Malaysian AIDS Foundation to organise Move for WAD, We hope to empower patients and encourage healthy conversation around HIV and AIDS among the public, ultimately creating a supportive community for all,” Cheal further said.  

World AIDS Day 2015 was themed “Getting to Zero”, which stands for having zero new HIV infections, zero discrimination and zero AIDS-related deaths. Participants and celebrities such as at MOVE for WAD not only joined a worldwide movement to show solidity with those living with HIV and AIDS, but also gain a healthier lifestyle. The three different workout styles can help to burn calories, provide core training and improve coordination while bringing great fun.

It is heart-warming to see businesses step forward to do their part towards promoting a healthy lifestyle to the public while encouraging compassion for people living with HIV and AIDS,” said Mr. Jasmin Jalil, Executive Director of Malaysian AIDS Foundation.

TRIKSTARS – Masters of Trickery @ SUNWAY LAGOON! BOOK YOUR TICKETS NOW!

The first ever TRIKSTARS – Masters of Trickery made its much anticipated debut to a crowd of over 2,000 people today at Sunway Lagoon’s Amphitheatre!

The show featured internationally acclaimed magicians and illusionists showcasing their unique blend of spectacular stunts, magic, and comedy as they enthralled audiences throughout the 2 hour show filled with entertaining 3D effects, amazing stage props, and breathtaking pyro techniques~

A total of seven performers, from Las Vegas and Europe, graced the stage delighting audiences with wonder and comedy. Phelston Jones captivated audience members with his mix of magic and satire while American magician Sylvester the Jester dazzled viewers as he brought a cartoon character to life.

King Charles Troupe played an unbelievable game of high-energy basketball played entirely on unicycles baffling spectators. 

Magus Utopia introduced a darker edge to the show with their unique combination of storytelling, strong visuals and illusions in Nightmares. 

Award winning dance couple Sebastian and Kristina showcased their artistry via their dance and magical transformations.

The ‘Coolest Magician on Earth’ Rudy Colby proofed to be a treat for the audience, while famed songstress, J’aime Holland sang her hits to the delight of her fans.

Among those in attendance were local Malaysian celebrities such as Sasha Saidin, Muhammad Haslam bin Abdul Rahmad, Elizabeth Tan, Brian Lim and local rock band An Honest Mistake.

Ramen Kanbe @ Empire Damansara らーめん神戸 - Food Review

For the four years I was in Malaysia, it was my first visit to Empire Damansara where this beauty struck my attention.

It was a small Japanese Restaurant called Ramen Kanbe. Originated from Japan itself, this is the first ever branch to open in Malaysia!

Welcome!

If you guys have tried Ramen, you should know that their soup is vegetable-based & naturally oil free, but also depending on the type of ingredients that each restaurant prefers to use.

For Kanbe, they use vegetable & chicken broth, slowly simmered for 7-hours to extract the savory yet flavorful taste. Umami is extracted from vegetables and chicken bones by boiling for longer hours. The soup is plain, but well-seasoned, which is critical for authentic ramen!

So, hungry yet? Let's start!

Here ya go~

For starters, we had the Wantan Ramen (RM21), served with wantan & slices of roast pork.

The soup was very pleasing, with a light soy taste. For me, I love soy sauce, so this was definitely delightful!!

Moving on........to the spicy! Any spicy lovers? Loaded with minced chicken & pork this Spicy Ramen (RM21) will fire up your taste buds! (I still prefer the wanton one though, since I'm not a fan of spicy) But I was a good sport & ate all my vegetables ^_^

The chef recommended this special fried rice (RM12) that carried the authenticity of Ramen, just in a rice form. I could taste the soy sauce & the sweetness of chicken broth too! I tried to ask the Chef his special ingredient, but no luck :(

& who said Nasi Pattaya only existed in Malaysia? Haha! Nono, this is a Japanese egg rice, known as Tenshi-Han, sits on a bed of thick sauce, also made from the yummy soy-based soup. For Malaysians, I think this would be a fave because who knew such a simple dish could be so delicious?

Cut open the egg, & ta-dah! the rice is hiding warmly inside~~

Well of course, we could never forget the Gyoza when eating at a Japanese Restaurant. Similar like Ramen Soup, each restaurant have their own way of making gyoza. For Kanbe, it was a simple mixture of pork & chives, served with soy sauce.

& finally, ending the day with chicken wings! Just a fine way to end off a Japanese meal! Satisfied!

After that, I peeked into the kitchen & found this!

Kanbe actually allows customers to customize their Ramen! So this one here is a Charsiu Ramen with spicy soup! Yums! I wanted to try too! But it's not mine haha. Maybe next time~~

This place may seem small, but when I was here to experience the fine Japanese taste, I was so much  absorbed into the food, that I forgot I was in Malaysia! (Okay fine, maybe I over-exaggerated, but you get the point, right?)

Ever since I started working, I realized that lunch was a very difficult decision to make. My colleagues & I were always wondering what and where to eat!

My first experience with this app was very exciting, because I was able to explore my creativity whilst reminiscing the flavors of yummy foods I tried at Antipodean!

Introducing the delicious & adventurous flavors of Italy, located at one of the largest malls in the world......

Expect the unexpected at Antipodean Cafe, in Mid Valley Megamall~~

And for starters, this light & healthy portion, known as the Buffalo Mozzarella (RM 24), thinly sliced tomatoes are paired with fresh mozzarella cheese, a spritz of olive oil, & topped with herbs. 

Looking at this dish makes me so happy! (i love tomatoes!!)

Then it was a fancy Egg Marlboro with Smoked Salmon (RM 24), perfect for breakfast, lunch, or anytime during the day! A slice of wholemeal toast topped with smoked salmon & two beautifully poached eggs!

The Benedict sauce brings a light butter texture to enhance the flavors of the smoked salmon, which came to my surprise because I wasn't expecting such exciting flavors!

Who says we can't eat two sets of breakfasts in one day?!

Here is another healthy selection of eggs, asparagus, & wheat toast (RM 20)! This delicious set may probably be the best kick-starter for the day, or even a light dinner to wind-down & relax for the night!

An Italian dinner is never complete without pasta! This carb-loaded pasta comes with pumpkin, feta cheese, & sage (RM 18) to fill up & satisfy your tummy!

And of course, the meats! A fragrant & generous portion of grilled chicken on top of grilled tomatoes & french beans (RM 20) drizzled with balsamic vinegar! It's definitely as good as it looks!

& Finally, my favorite dish of the day~~~~ Avocado Bacon (RM 18) 

Yes, another dish that is perfect for anytime of the day! The avocado was creamy & matched perfectly with the wholegrain toast, while the bacon was fried perfectly crispy. Yummy~~ 

BUT WAIT! There's dessert too! This sweet Banana Bread with Cream Cheese & Honey (Rm 12) is PERFECT for those with a sweet tooth. The cake was already delicious, but even BETTER when dipped in the honey! 

And of course, possibly a local Malaysian favorite...the Bali Date Cake (RM 8) with butterscotch sauce which will tinggle your taste buds with every bite!
